Handmade plasma tubes

Lightning
in glass

Living lightning in glass tubes — a magnet for the eye in museums, exhibitions, interiors and private collections. The discharge reaches for your hand, and people simply can’t walk away. Our own production in Moscow: standard models and custom projects.

Real plasma

The fourth state of matter: high voltage makes a mix of noble gases glow. No LEDs, no screens.

Reaches for your hand

Touch the glass and the discharge gathers under your palm. It is safe — and hard to walk away from.

Plugs into a wall socket

220 V, 50–300 W depending on size. The glow is programmable: smooth fade-in and fade-out, a “breathing” discharge.

Interiors and collections

A one-of-a-kind piece that becomes the centre of the room — in a showroom, a restaurant or a private home.

Colours and character

Every gas mix has its own character

The gas mix sets the colour and the way the discharge moves. Some mixes shine in normal light, others need dimness — and the most striking ones are usually the most delicate. Tell us where the column will stand, and we’ll pick the mix that comes alive there.

Need a colour of your own? We’ll develop a mix for your project. For temporary exhibitions we also have especially beautiful signature mixes — they last weeks or months, just as long as the show runs.

Standard models

Choose a size

A plasma column is a plasma tube on a base with its own power unit: set it down, plug it in and it runs. From a tabletop lamp to a two-metre column, plus two spheres. Any model in any suitable colour. Need another size? We make tubes up to 3 metres long and 300 mm in diameter.

Why Plasma Glass

Full cycle — from glass to electronics

Glass that won’t crack

We use borosilicate glass — the same as in laboratory glassware: strong, resistant to temperature changes and inert to the gases inside. Every tube is checked for hidden stress, so the column runs for years.

Control from your phone

Nothing to install and no need for the venue’s network: the column creates its own Wi-Fi. Program how the discharge breathes: fade-in and fade-out speed, pauses, gentle pulsing. A group of up to 16 columns starts one after another, seconds apart, and runs as a wave.

Quick repairs

If something fails, the power unit is swapped in 20 minutes and spare parts are usually in stock. The column reports faults on its own.

Fits into any space

We build plasma tubes into display cases, bar counters, furniture and architecture, and make stands to match the interior. For stages and installations — DMX control.

With you after the sale

One-year warranty, extendable. We service, refill, install and set up on site.

We fix others’ too

We repair and refill plasma tubes and lamps made by other manufacturers.

Our workshop

How the plasma is born

Our own lab in Moscow: a glass lathe, annealing kilns, a vacuum station and gas mixing. We have been experimenting with plasma for more than 10 years.

  1. Glassblowers at work

    Glass

We blow and shape the glass on a lathe or by hand.

  2. Bending glass in the kiln

    Annealing

We heat it in a kiln and cool it slowly so the glass becomes strong.

  3. A tube glowing in the kiln during evacuation and cleaning

    Vacuum

We clean the tube and pump the air out.

  4. Filling a tube with the gas mix at the station

    Gas

We fill it with a gas mix that sets the colour and character of the discharge.

  5. Testing a plasma globe on the bench in our workshop

    Testing

Every piece is run in on a test bench before shipping.

Custom work

Plasma in any shape

Rings, spirals, tubes up to 3 metres, plasma built into display cases and furniture — made for your project.

01 / 03

Torus

For the Atom museum in Moscow we made a plasma torus — a glowing ring modelled on a tokamak, the machine in which scientists hold red-hot plasma for nuclear fusion. The museum ordered two of these rings: one stands in the permanent exhibition, the other travels with the touring show. To bend the sections we had to design our own oxygen burners and kiln: you can’t buy such a rig.

Service and warranty

Plasma that keeps glowing

To keep the plasma alive for years, we don’t disappear after the sale: we service, refill and repair in our own lab.

Warranty

1 year. If the power unit fails during that time, we replace it quickly at our cost. An extended warranty with refilling is available.

Refilling

In our lab: 50% of the price for Ø90 and Ø150 tubes and spheres, 30% for Ø200.

Maintenance

Dust is the main enemy of electronics. We clean, check and replace fans so the column runs for years. Support: tfx-help@yandex.ru

Shipping and installation

Worldwide, in wooden crates. Complex projects are installed and set up on site.

At Tesla Show Sochi about 15 of our columns have been running for 6–10 years, switched on every day — and they have not changed. Read more →

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to touch?

Yes. The discharge is sealed inside thick glass, and the current through your hand is just tens of microamps — thousands of times below anything harmful. Our columns stand in museums where thousands of visitors touch them every year. We do not recommend touching them for people with pacemakers.

Does it need darkness?

It depends on the mix. Blue and lilac colours are visible in normal exhibition light; orange and green ones need dimness. We’ll match the colour to your lighting.

Can it stay on all the time?

It is better to switch it off at night: both the gas mix and the electronics last longer. The column starts by itself when power is applied, so it is easy to switch it off together with the venue lights or run it from a timer socket. If your project truly needs 24/7 operation, we’ll choose our most stable mixes: some colours, especially greens and reds, slowly fade when running non-stop.

Is it noisy? Does it get hot?

The fan is quiet but audible in complete silence. With some mixes the glass warms up to 60 °C — that is normal.

How long does it take?

Ø90 and Ø150 columns are often in stock. A large column takes 4–5 days of work if the glass is in stock, otherwise about two months for the glass to arrive. Custom colours take extra time to develop.

Glass is fragile — how do you ship it?

Fragile, yes — but we transport it all the time: to exhibitions, museums and other cities. Columns are made of thick borosilicate glass that withstands knocks. Long-distance shipments travel in wooden crates. We ship worldwide and quote the door-to-door cost in advance. When a carrier is involved, we recommend insuring the cargo: the carrier is responsible for what happens in transit.

What if the glass breaks?

Nothing dangerous happens: the gas inside is at low pressure, so there is no explosion. Air the room and carefully sweep up the glass. We can make a replacement tube in our lab, and the base with the electronics keeps working.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. We ship to the EU and other countries, and can work through our partner company in the EU for payment and documents.

How do I pay?

By contract, with 50–100% prepayment before work begins. We work with companies, museums and public institutions.
